Our Story
Mukinyi parish traces its beginnings to 1994, when members of the former Kimbo Outreach grew weary of long, muddy journeys to church school at Kimbo. They bought the first plot — where the old sanctuary still stands — and began worshipping as a small congregation under three elders: Elder Ndegwa, Elder Berenju (Rtd.) and Elder Kagiri.
- 2002 — Kimbo Outreach becomes a parish, and in 2004 it is subdivided into Kimbo, Mukinyi, Sukari and Kasarani parishes. New elders are ordained as the congregation outgrows its wooden church.
- 2006 — Mukinyi Presbyterian Academy opens its doors to nine children; today it serves close to 400 pupils.
- 2010 — Growing numbers give birth to P.C.E.A Neema church.
- 2016 — P.C.E.A Blessed Hope church is born.
- 2023 — P.C.E.A Highway church is born in October, completing the family of four congregations.
Down the years ten ministers have shepherded the parish — from Rev. Reuben Gitau Ng’ang’a to the current parish minister, Rev. Douglas Mbae — as Mukinyi grew into the multi-congregation parish it is today.
